Hi all,

Today I took the dogs (both greyhounds) out for a lovely sunshine walk. All was going very well until a beautiful little mini schnauzer got into the mix. It was being quite playful with my big, bouncy, young greyhound and all of a sudden he grabbed it with his mouth and started shaking it around a la squeaky toy.
He is always very playful and sometimes does little nips when other dogs are super playful but nothing worth noting. He's generally great off his lead and has good recall, he's almost two and isn't entire.
How should I go about future walks?

I personally would not stop him from playing but be aware he is capable of causing damage to a smaller dog even if not intentional, I would personally step in and give him a warning if he gets a little OTT with the smaller dogs, or try and find pals that are a little bigger

Obs as his recall is good, call him to you in good time and then let him off once u have spoken to the owner and they are ok for play (u may get an owner that wants to throttle you)

if he did this befre u got time to get there.
Atleast when u are there u can keep a close eye on hi and step in if need be.

I sympathise

The problem is little fluffy pooches look like little fluffy bunnies from a distance, its only when you catch up with them and bowl them over several times you discover they are, in fact, a dog.
By then, of course, you are too caught up in the moment and surely a little shake whilst in the grip of ones jaws wont hurt?

Agree with Cayla
