OH took the dogs out at lunchtime, had just let them off the leads to go in the fields and one of them found 2 bunnies in the grass at the side of the lane, unfortunately Bertie caught one. Husband rang me so I went with 2 boxes but sadly the one he caught died, I managed to catch the other one and take it the vets. I have just had a call to say it looks like the surviving bunny is going to be fine.
They weren't wild rabbits, we think they had been dumped as husband saw a 4x4 near the field gate as he was walking down the lane but didnt think anything of it at the time. RIP little bunny xx

Don't be too hard on him, it's an instinct bred into them for generations and they can't all tell wild/tame.
My old GSD pinned three of my old rabbits, she just wanted to stop them moving, once they had stopped moving, she was no longer interested.
It wasn't her fault, it was ours for not securing the dog properly.

Aw rip little bunny :(
Hate it when people just dump rabbits, think we must have had some dumped on my yard at some point because there's a few black bunnies and ive seen a beige one once .. :p

I dont blame the dogs, they chase wild rabbits all the time and have never managed to catch one, its the people who dump them, they were beautiful little rabbits, white with black ears and paws. At least it didn't suffer for long and the other one will be rehomed by the vets xx

Least one is now safe, if your dogs hadn't found them they probably wouldn't have made it through the night (a fox would have had both).

my staffy (bertie) killed a bunny the other week! (my friends pet) OOOPS!

He stays at her house regularly as she has another staffy.. so they go off and do things together while i am at work she takes them to the beach / to the park etc....

she has a rabbit hutch and run in her garden and bertie managed to get his nose in and grab one of the rabbits and drag it out and eat it!!!

BIG OOOPS! can't blame him.. she always lets him run around the hutch and be too interested in the bunnies and this time he was just very lucky and got one!!!

Bertie is now on 3 legs, he was limping after he chased the bunny and then that night he was obviously in pain so off to the vets yesterday morning and he has displaced his hip so hes on metacam and boxrest with short walks :(

One of our old GWPs managed to get 3 of my rabbits when I was little, we ended up padlocking the hutches. My JRT got my mum's guinea pig last year, she managed to break the run :(

Stupid person for dumping them in the first place

Normally I say the only good bunny is a dead bunny as the wild ones dig up the garden, eat eveything in sight and make holes in the paddocks for the horses to break their legs in.

However, the people who dump pet rabbits are another thing altogether.
