my friend and i went to a lesson today with a very good instructor (about 45 mins away) with her pony archie and my horse merlin. settled into lesson well, and both working better.
archie (friends pony) has come back into work about 2 weeks now (as was on holiday for a fortnight) , so doing mainly trot work and canter work, so she starts to canter a 20m circle with instructor in middle. then instructor stops her, as archie has suddenly become very lame behind - the ouch kind of lame
so she had to walk him out of arena and tried to see where lameness is and so far we think it is in fetlock
so have left it to see what swelling has come up.
(also i tried a horse there that had just come on the market, but will talk more about that later)
then when we got home she had to go away, and the YO and i were giving a lesson to 3 girls on ponies, one girl pony had to be put down last sunday so she was riding the little welshie at the yard. a person was coming on sunday to try him out, so this benifited both of them. so at first they played tag in the arena and then they all went down to the field to jump. other two jumped well but the little welshie stopped a few times but the girl got her over them, then they jumped a tiny fence and the poor pony sort of tripped and bashed himself/forgot he had legs - he wouldnt put the affected leg on the ground for 10 mins
we felt his leg and couldnt find any heat
but poor thing was crippled...
what was worse though was that the girl who was riding him's pony was put down as he suddenly got cushings and laminitis
and of course we dont know what is wrong with the leg and poor YO is soooo worried about him as she is selling him for a friend, and the people were coming tomorrow
she is very worried that he has done a tendon or worse broken the pedal bone
so now we dont know what will happen next
