Hi all, this is my first post but was hoping you guys could help.
Only have my horse 2 months but in the last 2 weeks he is coming out in lumps all over his body and face, they burst, blister and there is hair loss around it. They are pretty sore and swollen! He has hundreds of them. I had the vet out and he said to put a fly rug on him and wash him in antibacterial wash and keep fly spray on him, it doesn't seem to be working.
Any other ideas, I have the vet coming again tomorrow but I was wondering if there is antihistamine's or anything else I can ask him to give him?
I'll try and attach a pic but not sure if it will work as I haven't done it before! Thanks in advance for your replays :-)

I give mine piriton when they get more than a few fly bites, but yours sounds past that stage really. I would think he would need steroid injection from the vet, I've had that a couple of times with my mare when she reacts badly to bites. I now keep her in during hot weather and she has a sweet itch hoody on otherwise (more effective than a regular fly rug). I've had to dampen the hoodies in this weather though if they went out while the sun was still out.

He is a thoroughbred crossed with a coloured pony!
I have the vet coming first thing as there are more on him today the poor thing! What injection should he get? Dex? We gave him cattle pour on today, hopefully that might help too?? Do you think this could be a once off thing coz he was so poor or an annual thing? (Please say once off!)
