Bad reactions to sucralfate?

Has anyone’s horse ever had a bad reaction to sucralfate?
My horse has gone a bit wild and feels at times like a tightly coiled spring ready to explode. We’ve eliminated pretty much everything out of his diet and we are wondering if it’s the sucralfate?

It obviously has sugar in it but wondering if anyone else has any similar experiences?

I had horse on Abler sucralfate granules am & pm for 7 days as a test. He changed from antsy, bucking, coiled spring to calm, polite ride. I ran out of the granules, so switched to tubes of sucralfate paste from my vet. She said to just give 1 x 30ml tube 1-3hrs before riding, and the grumpy, rigid, twitchy horse has reappeared. Not sure if that is a helpful answer or not. Probably not.
