Or is the poor Rufus pooch just unlucky?

He's always been a bit of a 'tick magnet' for some reason but this year has been ridiculous. I've tom 'o' twisted four of the damned things in the last two days alone, bringing the grand total to about a dozen so far this year. I've not found a single one on Button pooch.

I've been trying to stay away from the long grass but it's virtually impossible at this time of year.

I'm still using frontline for fleas etc as it's still effective for those pesky critters but I think a trip to the vets is probably on the horizon because the tick situation is getting silly now and it may be time to try something new.

Is anyone else suffering more this year or just the poor Rufus chap?

Id go with bravecto for handiness of long term the dual action against fleas as well as ticks.
Ive had more ticks more ticks than the dog this year so it works!
*shudder.i hate the critters

Bravecto isn't a repellant though - I'd try Advantix. And anecdotally it is a bad year for them, we're taking part in a tick survey and I've got a freezer full to send away, eek!

Was just about to post a similar thread :P Our two cavaliers never get them but have had 9 between them in a week! Will be following this thread with interest. Our Vets said there was something new out that was meant to be the best but I've forgotten what its called :(

Been to the vets tonight and gone with the Bravecto option, so hopefully we won't be troubled by the horrible little monsters for much longer.

Poor chap has also got antibiotics as he's got a fair old lump developing where I twisted one of the things off a couple of nights ago. I always make sure they come away intact and their horrid little legs are still wiggling but this extrication must have gone pear shaped!!

Oh they seem to be getting worse every year. Could it be because of the mild winter we had? Horrible things *shudders*.
