Did the intro at Beckwithshaw today, didn't get the best results on paper but I'm very pleased with my big boy!
After walking the course yesterday I was a bit scared, the course seemed quite scary for an Intro! Anywoo, went off to the dressage and it started peeeeeeing it down, great!! He was a good boy though, did I nice test (for us!
) but his canter's were not that brill.... so thought I was up for a 40 - ish mark..
Onto show jumping, he warmed up fab and was really trying, the horse before be did a lovely clear but got 12 time!
so thought I best not hang about too much!! Did his usual thing round smaller jumps, didn't make too much effort and had 2 down. Lazy Badger!!
Still he went nicely so gave me some confidence for XC.
So, set off nice and confident XC, to say the least it was causing lots of probs!! The first half was all down hill, he was trying hard bless him but felt very green. We got down to the water, which was quite a beefy log down a steep-ish hill, it had scared me walking and.......we had a run out.
Came round and popped it nicely and then we were going uphill for the second half - he was like a different horse!! Was really flying and did the second half like a pro!
Sooo - went to look at results - We got 34.7 dressage!!!
Really pleased with that, thought we'd be well into the bottom half but he was 12th after dressage!
finished 14th so not bad for a first go. Was a lovely venue too!
