Today was our first outing of 2010.
I started off badly when I over slept and didn't have time to plait before leaving
I had to pick up my friend as her test was first. Anyway we had LOADS of time once we arrived so I convinced my lovely instructor that he would really like to plait the Welsh Cob for me
Matt (my instructor) was riding the first Novice HC. They did a lovely warm up, started a little lazy behind. So down to the indoor and although there were a few minor mistakes they did a lovely test. Really forward and got some fab marks coming away with 69.17%
I then rode the qualifier. Truth be told I've had issues all week trying to remember this test which was worrying me a bit that and the fact that I seem to get lost in a 20X60
My aim was to just get him forward, the comments on previous sheets all reference a lack of impulsion. Anyway I pushed him forward at it all started well, did my 2 mediums...and forgot what I was doing next, I should have done 2 loop serpentine but rode a circle in canter instead
Cue bell from the judge
I admit at this point I was mentally hitting myself as I felt lost, but the lovely judge must have known! She popped out of the car and called out to me the correct movements! So forgot the mistakes and got straight back into it. The rest of the test was brilliant...and I was very pleased, really felt I got the impulsion we've often been lacking!
Anyway, we came away with 70% and won the Restricted. Waiting for the sheets to appear and the judge came over & was full of praise for Shadow, she LOVED him!
