Briefly: An "incident log has been circulated to help officials at events recognise riders who have caused concern by their riding or behaviour which was not serious enough to lead to a formal sanction".
mmmmmmmmmm sorry don't like - IMO you either get told to pull your socks up or Not - by BE officals. Otherwise you don't know if you don't anything wrong or against rules. I personnel hate the idea of a sercet blacklist..............
yeah I remember seeing that and being shocked! Is this still in the magazine? I think if I was on the list and then it was in the magazine I would be a bit embarassed, and definately ashamed.
BUT original posting is NOT talking about OFFICAL LIST
my understanding is it an unoffical list :

WHICH IS WRONG, IMO - how do you know you on list???????? or not??????????????? i really really hate sercet BLACKLIST.
Surely this defeats the object.
Bad behaviour / riding should be brought up immediately. If the rider is unaware they are are riding badly ( eg too fast at lower levels) it should be highlighted then and there. Not put on some secret list. What can it possibly achieve if those thought to be doing 'wrong' have no idea they are doing so. You either break a rule or you dont.
Yes i think an unofficially list is wrong. I've seen people be given warnings/official cautions etc at events and it's these that are put in magazinr at end of the year...thats fine.
Dont like the idea of officials sneaking about...tell people the problem and maybe they won't do it again!!
Not saying I agree with this but it does say in the article that any rider put on the log will be told at the time, so they will know that they have been put on the list
Have BE actually informed members of this list, I mean in general, not just if they have misbehaved? This is the first I have heard of it wondered if I have missed something
I suspect it's a list of riders with whom the steward has a quiet word after the incident but who dont get fined/ officially dealt with.
This sort of situation regularly occurs and keeping a record is no bad thing.
I agree with Boss, and presumably all those people who get pulled before XC etc go on it - AFAIK you don't get fined/officially cautioned for that do you? They just say you can't continue on to XC. And again, I think it is a good idea to let other events know so they can also keep an eye on you.
I have no problem with a list of so called bad riding etc.......... BUT why make it sercet and if on list how do you remove yourself from list??
IMO it should be official with procedures so you know why your on list and how more important you can improve and remove your name from list.
As much as i think fences judging is Well Done and professional at BE (and ain't having a pop at anyone) BUT are they the best judges in an unoffical system???? with no right of appeal??? - The question must be asked

I havent read the article- does it say those on it wont be told?
I suspect you will be removed after a certain period of time- perhaps it will just be at the end of the season, perhaps after a year.
(but will tonight), but i remember reading something on HHo and BE forum about a 'Watchlist'. (so could be talking out off something!!!............... and in a way, I want to be wrong)
But i do belieive that unoffical list without any regualtions are bad things and so therefore this type of lists should be open and transparent to membership

Far from it! The article states 'Now any rider put on the log is told at the time.' It also says that 'It has led to a real improvement in behaviour.'

Fab.
I think it's a very sensible idea and means people will have an embarrassing consequence for bad riding/behaviour

BUT how do you remove yourself??? and would makes the call about bad riding etc... Can you challenge?
At a 3DE if you're riding is deemed unsafe/not good etc they inform you and you know you're on the list yes - to answer that question. You get som many warnings before you cant carry on/are disciplined.
I wonder if it includes those guilty of very bad sportsmanship, throwing toys out of pram etc. A couple of recent examples spring particularly to mind...

I think it is in reference to these incidents more than bad riding TBH.
Can update on this - someone VERY close to me is on The List!!! It is not published, you are told at the time,it is only until the end of current season,it only goes to organisers of events,no fines etc. More about it in this months Eventing magazine. By the way, my "connection" got hers on a speeding ticket - some 30secs under the optimum! Certainly not for throwing toys out of pram - she'd have walked home!
