Badly cut knee

Hi

My Mare went down on the road on Monday and took the skin off quite badly obviously she is bandaged at the moment but I was wondering when that comes off whether there is anything out there like a mesh knee cap that will let the air in but not the flies.

Has a vet seen it? Joint wounds can be nasty at the best of times.

I know this isn't what you are asking but I'd be tempted to get some knee boots for the future riding on roads.
I always used to hack mine out in the Westropp Knee & Brushing boots (in one) which were really good.
