Badminton attire....!

We are off to badders on the Sat to watch the dressage :D will be my first time and was wondering what to wear? We have tickets in the grandstand so that will be lovely - dress? Chinos? Flats or wellies?! Lol!

I have absolutely now clue so can someone please help! Lol. I have informed OH to dress comfortably however as I am all too aware of the sheer amount of trade stands and shopping that will befall him... :D

Excited!! Who else is going this year?! :)
 
Jeans, sweater, decent coat and either short boots/ ariats etc. volume of people tradestands etc mean if it is wet or has rained the shopping village becomes a bog. Suggest take layers in car and leave them there.
 
Funny story - years ago I attended Badders with unsuitable footwear for the conditions. Luckily the Joules stand were doing massive discounts and I bought a pair of long leather boots - and very nice they were too!
I immediately changed into the "bargain boots" and spent the whole day walking the course - which left me with very painful blisters!
However, years on, I still have those cheap boots and they are the most comfortable things ever to wear :) (now worn in). If I were to go to Badders this year I would be wearing "those" boots :)
Even now, people stop me at shows and ask me where I got my boots from :) They cost 50 quid - bargain!
So the moral of the story is - that whatever you wear, you are bound to buy something else from the tradestands anyway ;)
 
Take with you every type of clothing possible - be ready for anything. I've been there and got sun burnt and have also been knee deep in mud, struggling to stay upright! i don't tend to worry what i look like - practicality all the way!
 
One year, I needed several warm jumpers, mac and wellies, another year - a t-shirt, sunglasses and sunhat. It really does depend on the weather. Just make sure that your feet are comfortable, nothiing else matters. it always makes me laugh/cringe though when people who are not riding go to such things wearing jodhs.
 
Pearlsasinger that is one of my pet hates too. No idea why as people are entitled to wear what they like, but it just grates on my nerves.

I would definitely go for comfort, especially footwear as you'll be doing plenty of walking.
 
Jods and Jod boots and hoody with your horses name on def!! ( did this when I was 7, mum made me change :( )
 
As PS says, it always depends on the weather, I've sat on dressage days having picnic on a rug in the car park and other days I've been sitting in the grandstand with a tartan rug around me still feeling cold :D. If it's very wet, beyond the plastic matting that goes down around the stands/stalls you'll need wellies..and maybe some help getting your car out when you leave :D And comfort footwear too as you'll be surprised how many times you want to go round the shops and inbetween dressage watching you may decide to go and walk the entire cross country course or head towards the house/stables area. You do think sometimes though there's a dress code at Badminton...lot of tweed and dubarry in evidence :D
 
One must wear one's newly purchased cheap tweed and spotless new Hunters, darling.

If one has one of those female offspring, one must ensure she wears her white jodphurs, just so everyone else knows that she rides.

Obviously in agreement with pearlsasinger there! :p

I go with walking boots in case it's muddy, don't want to end up sweltering in wellies if it's really warm.
 
As Pearlsasinger has said, I've been when I needed lots of layers and one year I got sunburnt!!! Just make sure your feet are comfortable. Have a great time - very jealous xx
 
Haha, cheers guys :) read some of these out to OH and he is having nightmares about his car being stuck in mud and weighed down by my wardrobe :D
