wow, the furriners really are coming over for a prep-run for the London Olympics, I can't remember the French, Germans, Canadians or Americans sending that many for a very long time, if ever.
WFP has FIVE entered. Wow. Shame he's not allowed to run more than 2...
I am really looking forward to watching Port Authority.

Notable absences (I've seen one already) are aiming for Luhmuhlen, I believe... ;) ;)
 
Cant believe Phoebe Buckley and LT are so far down the wait list - long shot that they'll get in I would imagine :(

How is it they decide entries? Seems odd that Jeanette Brakewell's on there twice, and Little Tiger, I guess the 2012 selectors get some say?
 
I would guess it's an Olympic selection thing - he's not strictly qualified for Badminton (in that the horse's qualification has lapsed due to a WD at the World Cup event he was entered at last year - didn't do any other FEI events in 2010, so in 2009 he did Fontainbleu CIC3* but had 20 XC (you need to be clear XC in a CIC for it to be a QR), he then did the 3* european champs and came (5th clear XC) and didn't do any other FEI events that year. However in 2008 (so just out of the QR period) he came 6th at Lumullen 4* and 11th at Beijing in the Olympic Games, so clearly capable. At a guess he's been injured hence the lack of runs and the lapsed qualification?

Anyway, the Badminton schedule says:

Under exceptional circumstances, the FEI may before the event, with the agreement of the
Organising Committee of a CCIO/CCI/CIC and the NF of the host country, waive the
qualifying standard for a horse, but only at the specific written request of the athlete's NF.
Such a request must be accompanied by the reasons for the request and a detailed
summary of both the horse and athlete's performance record, including all the horse's
competitions at national and international CIC Events and Three Day Events during the
current and previous year. Such exemptions will be considered only for specific selection
purposes for Championships/Games.
 
What an exciting field this year! It's going to be super competitive this time- a big improvement on the last few years when there have been too many 'also rans'

Yep I'm uber excited, it should be a really really good year. Also my instructor is far higher up the wait list this year after a fab run at Burghley so have everything crossed he gets in :)
 
It is looking really excellent this year - very exciting! The Germans are sending some pretty amazing combinations.
 
Not competing that weekend so hoping for some good BBC1 and 2 coverage, can't get red button etc here!

Can someone remind me how you find out how many fei points a horse has? The fei website has me gnashing my teeth within seconds as usual...
 
Woop! Rosie Thomas is in on Barry's Best! My favourite duo- her horse makes XC look so easy and fun, and they always look like they're enjoying their round.

i havnt read all the replies so am really sorry if im repeating><but just wondered if anyone thought william FP will actually bring 5 to badminton?????????????

Only two can run, and if he's thinking of heading to Kentucky the week after, he'll probably decide long before Badminton week starts purely because of quarantine and flight issues.
 
Just wanted to let you all know I've just heard about what happened with French rider Didier Dhennin and Ismene Du Temple. It was initially thought they weren't qualified, so they were allowed to join the waiting list as an FEI exemption, but it turns out they are actually qualified. As he has sufficient FEI points, he's now been added to the list of accepted entries.
