Hello,

I got a sample of the above from a stand at a recent Equine Fair and tried them out on Charisma today, just a handful tried as a 'treat'. Well she was crazy for them, haven't seen her so excited about food in a long while!! So I was wondering if you use these cubes how do you feed them, because it says they are a high fibre 'hay replacer' but seeing as they are cubes I can only imagine that she will wolf them down, and won't last her very long? Or are they only meant as a treat, or perhaps a scoop in her feed?

Her feeds are rather large anyway and I'm quite happy using Alpha A Oil because it bulks out her feed, but then she does take ages to finish it! (Teeth getting seen to just after Christmas).

Or shall I get some cubes and put them in a stable toy?!

Hi,

A lady on my yard soaks a scoop of the cubes and uses the soaked mash over 2 days.

I am not sure if this is recommended but works for her and helps up the fibre in her horses diet.

I myself find them too chunky and if you are going to soak them then I personally think Fast Fibre is better as its a little bit easier to use and higher in fibre.

I think Badminton advertise them as being bigger so that they can be fed from the floor or perhaps scattered in the field?

Sorry - not much help :(

Just reading up about them online, and it looks like they work best for good doers and laminitics? Well Charisma is neither of those! But I was just thinking of just something extra to have alongside her normal forage, because she's out all day with haylage and I thought maybe giving her a few for in the stable (to have with haylage, obviously).

She really liked them :D But I don't want to spend money on something that might not be beneficial for her type.

People have said to me the best way to add weight is fill up on forage, so shouldnt these cubes help weight gain?

I have emailed Badminton Horse Feeds!

Fibre and Oil is key.

I add Fast Fibre to everything! lol

Fibre keeps the bacteria in the gut healthy which in return help the digestive system work better. Fibre also creates heat, keeping horse warm.

It certainly wont hurt to add some in the stable.

i feed them to my horse who has been on box rest and is now on field rest. he gets them in his treat ball as it keeps him nice and busy for ages. he doesn't need calories as he's not working but these are just instead of hay to give him something to do.
