Going to Badminton Horse trials this year, very excited! :D Was meant to go last year but of course the rain ruined it :C Anyway just bought (subject to vetting) a new horse so will need lots of new equipment. I've heard there are lots of stalls there but wondered if it is cheaper to buy horsey equipment (e.g rugs, bridles, etc.) at the trials or from a catalog or local tack shop? Anybody been recently and have an idea on their prices?? Thanks xxx :)

The good thing is that there is lots of choice all in one place so you can get hands on and check out all the options.

Prices are probably a little better than local tack shop prices as there is lots of competition but often you can still do better online if you really shop around.

Badminton and burghley etc are yhe best places for things you need to try or touch. I would recommend buying at an event for hats, boots and BPs and it is the best opportunity to window shop.

I would definitely buy 'in the flesh' so you can see the quality. If you search well you can pick up some bargains.

I always make a shopping list of things I need because you can pick up some great finds :)

Gutted Old Dairy Saddlery won't be there, they are one of my favourite stalls :(

You can get some really good deals, and if you shop around, prices vary from stall to stall. A bit sad, but if i know what i'm looking for i search online before i go for cheapest prices and make a list so i know whether i'm getting a good deal on the day. Plus you get a much better range of products to chose from, always find something new i haven't seen before

I tend to get a general idea of prices of things that I want online (remember to factor in postage) and then buy them at Badminton if cheaper. Sometimes shopping is a nightmare on XC day as they're so busy! Bramham is always best as they have a late night shopping one dressage day, and its lovely and quiet. We usually camp there too, so have a caravan to fill up!
