Badminton SJ day, help with seating areas pls??

I am booking tickets to badminton (xc and sj days) as a present for someone and was wondering if anyone could explain the grandstand seating? Some of the seats are £6.50 which is less than the £8 admission charge??? Would like good seats but am on a tight student budget so can anyone advise? Much appreciated!
 
Oooo how exciting, I love going to Badminton!

Right then, the £6.50 tickets are uncovered and on the opposite side of the arena to where they do the presentations at the end. The treble is normally on the opposite too (in front of the royal box). If you get tickets in the J or K section uncovered then the view of some of the course might be blocked by the tree that is always in the arena.

I have always had tickets in the £8.50 section which have been fine, but you'll need a brolly just incase!

Any other q's just ask, am a badders regular.
 
oooo you could just confirm something for me that FMC has also advised me on!

Dressage day - do we NEED to book seats? Just an extra £24 I could do without after shelling out £312 for tickets and hotel!

No no no! You don't need to book seats for dressage day. There are plenty of unreserved seats available on both days. In fact, I have been known to sit in reserved seats when not occupied.....the stands only get busy when someone proper famous is in

So, just the admission (and don't forget car parking) on dressage day & x country day and admission car parking and seats on sj day.

I'm not going this year. First year in a very long time. It's just too expensive for me

Right, so I need to buy admission and seats for the sj day? And the ones you recommend are the £8.50 ones? Can you buy seats on the day or will there be none left? Also, we are travelling down from scotland so do you know if there are any nice hotels nearby? Ideally it would be great if they offer transport to the event and back? I've never been before so I don't have a clue. Thanks!

Ok, this is what you need to buy:

Dressage day: each person needs admission, the car will need a parking pass and you do not need to reserve seats.

X country day: car park pass and each person needs admission

sj day: car park pass and each person needs admission as well as a ticket for reserved seating each.

Yes I would recommend the £8.50 ones and no there won't be any available on the day. The box office has huge queues of people waiting for returns on the day. You could not buy reserved tickets but you won't be allowed into the grandstand. there is a large screen which shows it all but not the same.

I would also recommend buying a Radio badminton headset in advance for a fiver (they are £8 i think there). They are brilliant. Good for dressage day as you get commentary with the tests and whilst you're wandering round x country they keep you up to date with who is on the course.

As for hotels, I always stay in the Holiday Inn Express on the M4 about junction 15 I think it's a good 20mins from the park, but all the local b&bs are noramlly booked up a year in advance.

There are 3 premier travel inns not too far away that cost around £55 per room per night. Don't take too long in thinking about it as they get booked up quite quickly.

Grandstand seats for SJ go pretty quickly too - don't expect to turn up on the day and get one, you are likely to be disappointed.

I booked all my tickets on the 7th and they arrived after a week - it's my annual holiday!!!!!

One last question.....
I am just away to buy the tickets now (the £8.50 ones) and it says these are the west ones but you have an option of blocks A1, A2, B1, E1 or E2???? Do you know what area is the best out of these? Thanks!
