Badminton - tack question

I am just watching the recording of the Badminton XC and I am seeing quite a lot of horses with what looks like a square of black material below the noseband - can anyone tell me what it is?

it's a Flair strip... the horsey version of "go faster plasters" that athletes use, supposed to open the nostrils a little more to let more air in.
personally, i think horses are amazingly designed running machines, and don't really need any improvement on nature to help them get more oxygen!

It is meant to help them breath. Forgotten what it is called but helps widen the air cannal or something like that!
