Took horse for a ride today, his first time out after 10 weeks box rest. Mindful of the coments made on here about first time out decided riding was the safer option. Fully kittted out hat, gloves etc & my BP plus a lead rope we headed for the field. First he saw the cows, .... all 4 feet left ground, then we joggled along the track until we met open ground, gosh this is exciting Mum. It was at the point of faciing home again I decided to dismount, not much easier at ground level but a few choice words got us going again until he returned to donkey mode & I got back on. Moral of the story, keep him laminitis free so we don't go through box rest again! Trying again in a couple of days, maye the novelty will wear off soon.
