I have used Allen and page for my horses always, but for one reason or another my local feed shop has stopped stocking them, and has started to stock baileys.... What is your opinion on them? Seems a little confusing with all the feeds being"no." 4 or 5 or whatever!

I used to use Baileys. My lad was on no6 Endurance Mix (less starchy than No4 topline) and the competition balancer.. He was eventing in summer and did really well on that diet.

I have recently swapped him (and my old mare) onto Pure Feeds. Cost wise they are the same but I have to say they are both looking great on PF. I have yet to see how it affects his energy levels as he is only coming back into work now from a months rest. The added bonus is PF deliver, so I don't have to worry about dashing to the feed store in my lunchtime (only to find they have run out of what I need).. :)

Both companies have very helpful people who will put together a feeding plan for your horse based on conditon, age, workload etc.

I hope this helps :)

I feed Baileys, the performance balancer (no 19), which is fab for muscle tone without Fizz, I have also fed the Outshine (no 20) but have not needed it this year, the balancer has been sufficient. I have also used the top line cubes (no 4) with success but found them quite heating :)

I find their website really good (esp if you're confused about the numbers!) and staff have been very helpful in the past. I really like their feeds and have fed no.4 with good results, the performance balancer has been great this summer, and added outshine this winter for extra condition. He's looking very well and had a lovely shiny coat all summer.

i've always found them very helpful, and have fed Baileys Stud Balancer to all of mine for many years. Found all their feeds very palatable, never had a problem with any of it, all bloods always very good etc (unlike another well known brand i could mention!)
i'm trying Pure Feeds too, just for the ones in work (who are being ultra-spooky loonies at the moment, so let's see if PF will settle their hysterical little brains) but since they've only been on a little bit of Balancer + Happy Hoof, i can't blame Baileys at all for their crazy behaviour!

I've used Baileys lo cal balancer in the past and been really happy with it. My mum uses outshine with her old horse and he really gleamed!
I like Baileys, I find some of their feeds a bit starchy but our horses have always looked really good on their feeds that we have used. My horse should be on their website promoting the lo-cal!

Yeap great feeds. Use No 4 Topline cubes have been fab for years. I love their Golden Chaff too. Have used Outshine before and found it really good. Been to the factory and they use quality ingredients.

I did jump ship and try Pure Feeds too, but found it more expensive (only 15kg bag) and one of mine didn't like the pellet in Pure Condition. But I did like the product.

Use No 4 and No 19 for the Moot and she looks and feels blOody fantastic on them!
The No 19 is fab as she gets put off by big meals so it's keeps the size down but gives her everything. then she gets the No 4 in a feed ball to keep her entertained. The No 4 filled her out when I first got her, but given I broke her in by myself in gale force winds at the time,it obviously didn't send her bonkers! :D

My boy has kept his weight on well being on the baileys no4 conditioning cubes whereas thus time last year on other feeds he was quite lean-super happy would deffo use again!

I've used Baileys number 4 Top Line since I started having trouble getting Allen & Page as a substitute for calm and condition - it's fab, have had 3 different horses looking great on it.

Everyone I know really rates them and I've fed them on and off over the years depending on availability etc. Their helpline is good and the information on their website very useful. On the whole the feed do what they say they will do.

However, I do think as a company they have a tendency to over-complicate feeding with all their various versions and personally prefer to keep my feeds simple and straightforward to suit the individual horse. I have also know horses turn their nose up at Baileys feeds and not other brands which if you're trying to get condition on or energy up obviously isn't overly helpful.

At the end of the day as with most feeds it's a case of trying and seeing what suits the horse.
