Baileys lo cal vs topspec balancer

Molly has been on baileys and alpha A lite for about a year now and is doing very well on it but as winter is arriving and she is also worklng harder now I wanted to give her something to give her a bit more ooommph. I don't really want to feed a mix etc as she is a very good doer and I end up having to feed so little to prevent her getting fat. Topspec is quite a bit more expensive but is it worth it? Will it make her fat?

What is Top Spec going to give her that Lo Cal doesn't?
What about changing to plain AlfaA or Alpha Oil, that might boost the ooomph factor a bit without putting on weight.
Someone will come up with something for you or you could try the feedfirm helplines.

I was under the impression that topspec had a higher conc of vitamins and protein but they don't have the spec on the website for me to check. I have just put her on alpha A and it hasn't made any difference.

I am also thinking of feeding either TopSpec or Blue Chip this winter, so will be keeping an eye on this thread! Will let you know if I find out anything.

Much prefer Topspec to Blue Chip, but not sure the difference between Topspec and LoCal, I know my boy does VERY well on Topspec, and he was fed Baileys stud balancer for a while which is meant to be higher in protein than Local, but didnt do aswell on it as he did Topspec.

I feed Hannah TopSpec... I think she looks fantastic on it!

In summer she goes on TopSpec Leisure Balancer as it has less calories so she doesn't puy weight on with that one. Then in winter she goes back on the TopSpec Balancer.

I was going to feed LoCal, but I discovered the TopSpec had a yeast in it developed by the veterinary college which has helped Hannah's colic dramatically. After being on it for a couple of months, she went from having colicky episodes every couple of weeks to none at all (except one which was down to me not being careful with her management).

I feed low cal too and wanted something to give him that bit of ooomph if needed. I cant feed barley so I contacted the feed merchants and Dodson & Horrell have a feed balancer and said to feed something called Equigold (I think)along side it to give him ooomph. I compared the prices and as he is doing so well on low cal Ive stuck to that for now. Its cheaper too. Not being tight but he is so fat at the moment Im only feeding him lo cal to make sure he gets the vitamins he needs, so I will see what happens over winter. Im sure lo cal has yea sac in it for the gut, maybe Im getting mixed up with another make.

Baileys Lo Cal does have Yea sacc in it and its also less than half the protein value in it Top spec is about 36 % and lo cal is 16 % ! give the guys at Baileys a call they are very good and not afraid to recommend other feeds and supplements ! The one they like is a company called protexin which does a great pro/pre biotic which is very concentrated and gives a boost when under stress . My Boy is on feedmark Bio pro which is great as a maintenance supplement but the product quick fix is great for use after anti biotics stress etc

I have fed my lazy gooder baileys low cal for years and did rate it until i swapped to top spec comprehensive balancer when I had finally got on top of his weight. I could not believe the difference in attitude, energy, motivation and condition. The only thing is he is retaining alittle more weight then he would have with the baileys, but it manageable with soaked hay and a good amount of exercise.
