Hi, you may have read my previous post re my TB 4yr mare who lives out 24/7 and has lost a bit of weight recently.
Just to re-cap, she was having approx 1 bale hay per day sharing with a small coblet and 2 welsh sec a's. Had 2 feeds per day which consisted of 1 lg scoop alfa-a, 1 lg sc S/B, 2 lg sc D&H build up mix.
She is ridden 5 times per week, approx 1 - 2 hrs hacking per day.
Called up Baileys yesterday and they have given me a new feed plan:
Just called baileys and they have put together a feed plan:
baileys no4 conditioning cubes - 1 scoop
outshine supplement - 1 - 2 mugs
per feed twice per day
1 bucket (rubber skip) of alfa a to be fed seperate from the feed approx 2/3 hours after breakfast once per day
Seperate her from the ponies and ad lib hay
They said i should see a difference within 6/8 weeks.
Going to introduce it slowly from tomorrow and have increased hay by putting out 1 bale in morning then adding another half at night, since doing this they seem to be more interested in what little grass there is left! theres still quite a bit of hay left in the morning
ps she has been wormed regulary from a foal - i have just recieved all her records from the stud/vets where she was bred over in ireland
She was getting up to weight nicely but now the winters arrived and the grass is gone shes lost condition
am hoping this new feed plan will work!
Okay first pic is when she arrived in july - very underweight:
A few months later (sept)
