i've just been looking in to changing my boy's feed, he's a 17h ish, 7 years old and isn't a great dooer but isn't skin and bone either if you get me, i was looking in to trying him on baileys no4, when i was reading up about it, it says, feed on it's own with unlimited hay/grass for maximum results, is this right?? do i just give him 2 scoops of that and unlimted hay and that's all he needs???, do any of you use it and if so what else do you feed with it??
Thanks

I feed no 4 but with Hi-fi, calm and condition and Quiet Mix. My boy loses weight easily and if he has less of a mix of feeds gets very hot headed!!! A bit of everything suits him best even though he has a fantastic appitite.

We find that the only thing to put weight on our 17.1hh 8 year old TB is Blue Chip Original - found Baileys No 4 to be completely useless! However, I always feed No 4 (or whatever) with chaff (albeit Hi-Fi or Alfa-A) together with unmolassed sugar beet and oil.

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, although you can add a chaff if you like. If you ring or email Bailey's and give them your horse's size, type and workload they can advise you exactly what is the best amount to feed.

Ive had one of mine on it for years. Excellent stuff, he maintains weight all year round (and he's a slim built TBx who can be very picky but not on this). I add Alfa A Oil, soya oil and sugar beet to mine.

can you only do 2 feeds a day?

I feed 4 feeds a day and so when I was putting weight on my big fella he was on 4 scoops a day.

Ring Baileys they are very helpful and you can get a yard visit from one of the their nutrionalists also
