Does anyone feed this? And if so what is your horse doing?

Started feeding Dexter this as well as his hifi and outshine instead of his normal D&H mix as he was getting a bit fizzy, only thing is I looked at the pack at the weekend and it says for horses in light work and they can have something like, well what it relates to about 8 scoops a day! He is only having on in each feed. Oh he is a TB who is Novice eventing. Thanks

I dont use it, sorry. But i did find it interesting you say this about Baileys.
A few years ago I had a very nice ex TB (mothers show horse) who was a sod to keep weight on (literally dropped in the lorry on the way to a comp).
I spoke to feed merchants and length and went with Baileys. Turned out my poor horse had to have so much food he didnt know what to do with himself

I swapped (he was 7) to sixteen plus! he piled on weight - looked lovely and was sane too yay! well as much as he could be.
He was working 6 days a week, hacking, schooling for over an hour a day. Didnt jump but would go on 3-4 hour hacks at weekends.

Its interesting also, that my lot are fed very little, hi fi and H' Bradshaws liquid balancer, theyve never looked so good and feel ace! winston was positively bouncy at the weekend!

Who makes that mix?

Dexter is the same drops weight at a show

We have upped his outshine to 2 cups in each feed now, heaped scoop of hi-fi then a scoop of mix but I dont want to feed him this mix if it isnt doing any good!

Sorry, yes Dodson and Horrell sixteen plus, it now comes in cube form which my veteran has and hes belting around the field but actually FAT! hes 28 and ex race horse

I also feed him liquid balancer (from H Bradshwas) with little chaff. He copes better because he isnt being loaded up with lots of food, he just wouldnt eat it!

He loves the liquid balancer (Multi Vit pro) with that and the D&H gives him all what he needs.

The local riding school who also have eventers, all their horses are fed 16+ whether their 8 or 28! its just a good feed for horses who drop weight

How about looking at TopSpec Super Conditioning Flakes, or their Cool and Condition Cubes with your Hi-Fi?

Is he on some sort of balancer too?

Someone I know was having a very similar problem with a TB type, and he fizzes up something dreadful. She has put him on the TopSpec Balancer and their conditioning cubes and he looks superb! I got a shock after seeing him after a few weeks on it

Have just spoken to Dodson and Horrell and the lady was really nice/helpful she has suggested staypower muesli, with the hi-fi and outshine. So I will try that, mixing the muesli in with his mix now.

Thanks for you ideas everyone
