I have recently added this to my horses feed (tb mare ex-racer) in a bid to get some weight back on her. I took advice from the baileys nutritionist and was told it was non heating. Its still early days in terms of her gaining weight (she has only been on it a week) and condition, but when I rode last night she was exceptionally full of beans. Has anyone else used this and has it had rocket fuelling effects on their horses?

It shouldn't make her fizzy cos all it is supposed to be is oil but if it is you could try just adding soya oil from the super market which would be cheaper.

Although someone told me oil is very deficiant in Vit E so if you did feed oil you might need to supplement with Vit E but would probably still be cheaper.

I've used a stud feed from winergy on my tb mare and she looks amazing, it has no cereal in it but lots of fibre and oil so it hasn't made her fizz up at all - I wouldn't take her off of it now, maybe you should look on their website?

Thanks, i will look into this further, she may just be feeling good as she is starting to use her back muscles for a purpose other than going straight and fast!

Probably! I've just checked and the winergy feed is called equilibrium growth, honestly its fantastic! I always used baileys number four before but this has worked much better.

Good luck!!

I've been told soya oil can be like rocket fuel for some horses. Particularly tough for me to find a feed to keep weight on my boy, because most, if not all, feeds for weight gain contain it.

The few feeds I have tried that have turned him doolally, have all contained soya oil.

Honestly it shouldn't because soya oil is a slow release energy and when combined with fibre has so many good properties.

You have to be careful to feed the right amount tho which is why I really like the winergy feed. they're website says they did trials on it for years to prove it works and I can testify to that!

Maybe there was another common ingredient in the feeds you tried? Maybe a cereal ingredient as they are real high in instant energy and made mine go a bit loopy!

Well I found it strange because it said non heating, but a friend said some horses react differently to the oil. I might have to try that winergy feed, although I have just changed mine over to D&H build up and dont want to change again just yet.

I've also been told that Soya oil is like rocket fuel for some

I add Linseed oil and give a broad sprectrum vitimin supplement. A splash of Linseed gives them a beautiful coat, more helps them to gain and maintain condition

I feed it to my horse to put on weight and he can be giddy. (PBA so what do you expect!) However he hasn't got hotter. My baileys contact did say it can heat up some horses though. How much are you feeding?
Tommi was in poor condition and after feeding 3x a day:
1 scoop baileys no 2,
1/2 scoop hifi
1 cup outshine
digest+
he is looking great.

Have a number for you if you want it?
