Baileys Outshine?

*ouch*!

My OH lives down your way want me to get him to drop off some cheap bags on his way home? :D I think efeed will deliver for cheaper than that too (checked by about £38) :)

Thanks :) I've got a stash at the moment.
The thing is with e-feed that you need to pay in advance by card (obviously) and I have 60 days credit with my feed merchant, and other things are so much cheaper that I'm quids in anyway ;)

Hi, yes hes doing well on it, not going loopy either which is good.
Ive only got him on 200g because it wasnt really for weight gain more for that show glow.

His coat is lovely, looks like glass. He moulting and sprouting summer coat now, and hes not scurfy or itchy at all, which is great.

He scoffed it down a treat but i didnt doubt he wouldnt as this is a pony that will steal ham sandwhiches and steak crisp off my daughter, or anything else he can get his chops round.:D

So all in all doing as it said on the bag.:)

I only got the 7.5 kg bag as wanted to see how it went before buying a big one and as he has little im not going through it very quickly, i paid 16 pounds for that!!

Thanks for asking will keep you updated and will get a pic through of him when his coats through!!:)

Thanks. What size/weight are they? Do you feed for weight gain or just shine? :)

Gracie is 16hh and about 450kg, she needs a fat top up to keep her weight on, she's 17 and had a hard life/isn't a brilliant doer.
Mabel is 16.2hh and about 650kg, she's chubby and gets only outshine, for nice coat, not so much shiny, but it does stop her itchyness and scruffyness
Melly is 15.2 and somewhere around 460-475kg, she looks just right, but she has trouble with starch/protein/sugar in her diet, so needs some source of energy.

V helpful, thanks! :) I'm considering it for my oldie, as despite being medicated quite successfully for her cushings she still gets a touch scurfy, especially when shedding her winter coat. She also empties her feed on the floor if I add pure soya oil

I'm going to resurrect this thread as there seems to be a few on the subject! :D

I gather from peoples responses that this can be fed for weight gain as well as coat condition? Does anyone find it sends their TB's a bit loopy? Roughly how much do you feed for a 16hh horse and a 14hh cob for weight gain? How long does a bag last as for £31 it's very expensive!!

I've got a 17hh warmblood and my bag lasts 3 weeks on the recommended amount. She has put on weight, but slowly and her coat is fantastic, and it hasnt sent her loopy, so I would recommend it.

Ive been feeding it for coat condition, im actually feeding under the amount reccomended for my pony and thats not the recomended dose for weight just for a nice coat, and its doing his coat wonders so scurff and really shiney and his coat is coming through lovely (and the heart of his butt is coming out too!!:D) Im using very little got the first small bag a month ago and just bought another but still got quite a bit of the old bag left. I think cos hes a native pony he gets alot more from the minimum amount!!
It hasnt sent him at all loopy hes lovely at the minute, compared to when i fed him a scoop of alfa oil split between 2 feed with nothing else that sent him mad!!!

It is expensive if you use it for weight gain.. They recommended 3lbs per day for a 16hh TB which is 6 mugs per day!!
My mum uses 3 mugs per day for her TB and that is enough for a good bloom, a bag lasts about 6 weeks for that amount.
I use the lo-cal balancer on my TB ex racer with haylage and he is really blooming, there is a showing post on him in comp riders if u want to see the results :). You could always try that alongside the cc? £19 and a bag lasts 6 weeks. I also use tesco veg oil.

Hope that helps

I've got a 15.2 TB and I use it for weight gain and it's fab! A bag will probably last 5 weeks, but he is really putting the weight and condition on nicely. It doesn't seem to send him loopy like the D&H Build up mix did either :D

I'm tempted to switch him to the lo-cal & oil when he's got podgy enough! He's on bluechip at the mo too and I'm not sure it's doing much for him...

I feed it, to my young TB she is the kind that sniffs pasture mix and turns into a loon.
She is on a mug and a half of high fibre nuts and a mug of Outshine twice a day. (16.1hh)
She looks amazing on it and it doesn't fizz her up at all.

Costs £31.50 down here. We have it on the feed board as 'Gold Dust'

She loves the taste of it.

Been good for her feet as well, and it has all that she needs in it, so i find i don't need to add an extra balancer. :D

It is expensive compared to other, better suppliments available.

Outshine contains:
Energy - 24
Protien - 12.5
Fibre - 8
Oil - 26

Outshine is has a high energy content, but if you're feeding for protein or oil then it would be better to feed;

Badminton Feeds Tripple Top Up:
Energy - 14.5
Protein - 29
Fibre - 4.5
Oil - 25

Or

Micronized Linseed:
Energy - 20.5
Protein - 23
Fibre - 7
Oil - 35

Or if feeding for a good all round vitimin, mineral, high protien suppliment/balancer, Top Spec Leisure Time or Comprehensive balancer is great.

Hope that helps :)
