iv been riding for many years but im really struggling with my balance on my mare which isnt helping her to much! how many of you still use them? i almost feel abit silly which sounds ridiculous!

Do you mean a neck strap ? Or a handle connected to the d rings of your saddle ? I have been using a nack strap on my new horse, because she can be silly, but to be honest, in the split second she whips around, its too bloody late to grab the neck strap !

I always have a balance strap and a neck strap on my younster but prefer to cross my reins in an emergency - its quicker than fumbling for the others. But i find their presence reasurring anyway.

i mean the strap that goes across the d rings. shes very green and tends to get abit of a wobble on in the school and shoot forward and it puts my right off balance. takes me a while to gather it all back up again and settle her again.

Yep....on the young 'un. For the same reason. Don't use it so much now he's improving but its still there.

If its good enough for WFP its good enough for me;)

I use a neck strap. I find it's in a better position than a monkey/balance strap and you can grab and handful of mane with it if need be.

Edited for spelling mistakes

I have them on all my saddles. Just for a little reassurance if horse is being stupid and spooky. Very good for lunge lessons too :)
