New owner here so please excuse my ignorance.

I have a lovely mare, 15 year old 15.1cob, barefoot with no health issues. She is on grass livery but will be stabled in extreme weather. last year I was on full livery and fed her honeychop lite and healthy and farriers formula and I don’t feel she got much out of this but she kept her weight but she was stabled at night.

I am looking to give her everything she needs now she’s forage based
currentlt I have been giving half scoop honey cjop lite and healthy with atrial of placid calmer as she can be a bit anxious with the new yard and one cup for horses for vit and minerals.

I am considering progressive earth pro + balancer and adding linseed which ha come recommended to give her everything she needs. However I am a bit confused by linseed. Can it make them a bit fizzy or make them gain weight. How do I choose whether to get oil or meal?
how much should I feed?
I’d like her to lose a bit of weight going into winter as she has over indulged on the lush grass a little this summer

It depends if she has bucket feed, mine have a small feed and have powdered balancer but if not bucket fed it would be easier with a pellet. Easiest of all is a few equibites a day if you dont mind hand fed treats

I wouldn't be feeding linseed to anything that needs to lose weight at this time of year. It is good to add in winter, especially for horses that get little grass, for omega 3. It rarely causes behaviour changes but will encourage weight gain, depending on the volume fed. The meal is better than the oil.
If you want to give a bucket feed then a good iron free balancer like progressive earth is all I'd feed her, either pelleted or in a low calorie mash like fast fibre.
