With summer turnout this week I'm looking to alter my boys feed. He's a Welsh D yearling who holds his weight well. Since weaning he's been fed sugarbeet, chaff and a multi vitamin plus adlib hay and 8 -10 hours turnout daily.

As of this week they will be on 24 hour turnout although he will come in every day for a groom/to be checked etc. He will be out on good quality pasture grazing which is approx 10cm long there are also multi vitamin blocks in the fields.

I'm looking to feed a small amount of balancer to try and regulate his growth and ensure he is getting his essential vitamins and minerals, I have looked at the topspec young stock and baileys young stock balancer but was wondering if there is a specific native balancer available ? Also as a yearling is it still best to feed young stock rather than a general balancer ?

Thanks in advance

I absolutely swear by D&H suregrow! If you have a look at reviews and posts on here about it, alot of others lobe it aswell! It's made my baby grow lovely and even and at a steady rate too! He's in perfect condition now and I put it all down to the suregrow! Give D&H a rang, they are always happy to help and send free samples etc :)

If there wasn't everything your native yearling needs in the grass, the grass wouldn't grow. What do you think they ate before the feed merchants started issuing their propoganda?

Sorry if that sounds a bit abrupt but most of the articles you read about supplements and balancers in the glossy magazines are written by the feed companies and the magazines print them because they get the copy free! OK, maybe, for an adult in hard work, but growing youngsters should be brought on slowly and naturally. My natives have been on hay over winter and are now on grass, with free access to a mineral block.
