Hi,
The grass has turned quite dry and I wouldn't say very good quality in the field my 14mth old filly is in.
The problem is the other horse is prone to putting on weight and the other fields are very lush. She is looking good, and I don't want her putting anymore weight on to be honest, so it's not a feed that I want to give her. However I'm wondering, if she should be given a balancer/all round vit/mineral supplement to make sure she is getting all that she needs, particularly when the grass isn't the best quality.
She's a Friesian. She only gets a handful of mollichaff as a treat daily and appears to be thriving on this and the grass that she is currently on.
I did put some hay out last night to see, if they would eat it. If I should perhaps put some out to supplement the grass? The other horse did eat this, she had some and then went off to eat the grass.
I've been looking at the Bailey's Stud Balancer. NAF Optimum balancer. NAF IN the Pink. Does anyone use any of these on youngsters or any others?
Can anyone recommend a balancer or similar for a yearling I could try?
Many thanks in advance
