Hi I'm looking for some advice. I currently have a massive feed bill for my horse that I really need to do something about mainly due to all her supplements!!!
This is what she has:
i. Small handful topspec topchop lite x2 a day (borderline mild lami hence molasses free chaff and much less than recommended feed amounts as currently at rest and only really getting this to get everything else down!)
ii. NAF Pink Powder
iii. Promix amino acids with trace minerals (www.equineconsultingclinic.co.uk)
iv. MSM (on veterinary advice for muscoskeletal probs)
v. Chlorella, dandelion root and milk thistle (on vets advice for liver issues)
vi. Green clay (on vets advice due to suspected hindgut inflammation!)
vii. Boswellia for her joint discomfort
viii. Chastretree/agnus castus for hormones
ix. mint (to encourage her to eat everything else as a very picky eater!) and I'm thinking of trying fenugreek as i really struggle to get her to eat her feed even with lots of mint....
Any ideas to cut this down obviously without cutting out anything the vet has advised.... what do people give as feed balancers/vitamins/probiotics? Are they really necessary? I've wondered about replacing the amino acids and pink powder with a straightforward probiotic like yea sacc but will she still get all the vitamins she needs? Any nutritionists out there that can help please?
