What balancers do people use?

I need something non heating but will condition and help with anxiety.

I posted in the tack room part about calmers but having read stuff I wonder if maybe a balancer will do the trick to help his brain as he is only on a fibre diet and probably not getting enough minerals etc.

Investigate forage balancers rather than general supplements. The mineral mix is different to allow for what's likely to be in/not in forage.

There are some good suggestions from the barefoot taliban on a number of threads in here such as ProBalance, ProHoof, Forage Plus etc etc.
PS: Doesn't matter whether a horse is shod or not, their nutritional needs are the same.

Spillers lite balancer for vits/minerals, free forage (grass/hay) and add some micronised linseed for extra condition and to help with the chemical balance in the brain - helps to calm horses who are fiery because of low omega 3 levels. You could use a some linseed oil instead of the linseed meal if the overall volume of the feed is too large. :)

I use Baileys lo cal balancer for my boy although anxiety isn't something he's afflicted with (the most laid back highland in history!) but he still needs the extra nutrition as he's otherwise on a completely forage diet. Choose one which your horse actually likes and your local supplier sells to make life easier.

I use Top Spec Cool Balancer for an ex racer and Stud Balancer for Tb mare and foal and cant praise it highly enough

I use the ForagePlus performance balancer.
I've recently switched to the hoof health one. I would prefer to feed bespoke minerals but it just isn't doable for me with my small hay deliveries. I've seen all sorts of changes since starting. Coat colour changes happened at the first coat change but are still improving/changing. Those with black legs have now got jet black legs, any white now looks so bright.
I add extra salt and feed micronised linseed as they have long periods of no grass.

ps. These balancers aren't heating, the minerals etc. are carried in m. linseed.
