My horse has a bald patch on his elbow which will not respond to any lotions and potions, the vet suggested cornuscresine but that did not make any difference. It started out like a sweat patch that was slightly scurfy so I washed and dried it each time I rode him but it has slowly got worse, resulting with the hair falling out. The patch is quite hard and but not in any way sore at all. Has anyone got any ideas or know of anybody who has had a similiar problem, I would love to have his hairy elbow back to normal. lol!!!!!

Your poll doesnt make sense!! Welcome to the forum!! How old is your pony?? My elderly pony had "bald" elbows which the vet put down to age and the way he got up once he had lay down ( despite rubber matting and lots of bedding

) funnily enough my old boxer dog got the same.

My TB mare has scabby elbows. They have always been like it. It doesn't seem to cause her any problems but just looks a bit horrid and flaky in the summer!

My old boy (19 bless him!) has this! Its from the way he lies down with his front legs tucked up underneath him! He has a huge deep straw bed on rubber matting and he still has got it! In the Summer when its more noticeable I put E45 cream on it.

Hi there my old mare had a bald elbow all her life, its where her leg curled up when she laid down. My new mare had a similar thing where she curled her front leg round and made a swelling come up just below the elbow and a friend of mine who was a vet said that if I put a rubber sausage boot on each night that it would stop. so each night now she has the sausage boot on and we haven't had any problem now for several years.
