Bald Patch?

Hi all,

Just need a bit of advice, my new forest mare has developed a bald patch and I am at a lost as to what the cause is.

It is on the middle left side of her neck and all of the hair ( not just moulting) is falling out. However the area is not scurfy, sore inflamed etc.. So I have ruled out rain scald, ringworm, all the usual; the rest of her coat is fine and healthy and shiny.

She lives out un-rugged so there is nothing to rub her and only receives a balancer and ad lib forage so she should be receiving all the nutrients she needs. Apart from the bald patch she is well in herself; however it appears to be increasing in size.

Any suggestions???

i have a mini shetland that gets bald patches on his neck {running down along side his mane} his are totaly bald with healthy skin underneath, they spread down his neck, then grow back hair on the bald patches and back to normal, it never bothers him, its what he does every year.
