My long haired gp is losing her coat. She used to look like dougal out of the magic roundabout, now is about half the size with a short coat and bald legs. I have been to the vet and used ivermectin drops twice, and also given extra Vit C as vet said this could be the problem. How long should it take to see a difference in her. She seems otherwise fit and healthy. The other GP seems to have no symptoms at all which I would have thought if it was mites she would have.
Anyone got any ideas ?
Have looked on Guinea pig lynx forum but they all suggest mites or Vit C too!

My first thought would be mites too. When my Guinea had mites the vet prescribed Seleen shampoo which seemed to do the trick.

Could the other piggy be pulling it out? Have you ever noticed them fighting?

I wondered this. If it isn't (are there any missing bits on her ears or bites on her bum), another thought could be stress. Does she have time out to forage in the garden and enjoy the sun in a safe place ? Mine love sunbathing. :)

Don't think other GP is doing it. Cant think where they could have picked up mites. Have had them for 4 years so they are getting on but have not changed their diet or anything, they have always had a lot of veg etc. They do have an outside run MSR, they went outside a couple of weeks ago, as they are in all winter. Maybe im being too impatient to see an improvement
