My 23 year old welsh pony is going bald. Only in places but mainly on his bum.....just behind his kidney area....loins....
He has been living out for the first time in his life this winter (we have owned him over 19 years) due to his coughing and allergies. Most other years he has had a lighweight rug on in the winter when out and a lightweight in the stable when temp drops. AS he is out 24/7 (other than in for food and if very wet) we put a 300 fill rug on him overnight and LW rug in the day. Could the bald spots be because he is too hot. I have never seen this before. All my others are in HW rugs but are in work and clipped out or are TBs and in HW rugs.
