Does anyone know if frozen semen is available for the stallion Ballinvella? I have Googled but it hasn't turned up anything useful. If he is still alive he would be 29, but I have recently seen 6/7 year olds by him.

I have a horse by him (and would LOVE another!) and, having seen lots of his offspring, a friend of mine has rather set her heart on breeding her mare to him. I fear she is going to be disappointed.

yes i think she mite be! i have jsut looked up the irish horse board stallion list and there is not any offspring doing particualrly well that ahve been retained as stallions either! shame but there are plenty of other lovely irish TB stallions she could go to instead!!

I am pretty sure that Ballinvella is dead, but there is a son alive now in Ireland called Ballinvella Lad. I am not sure how good he is and have not heard that much about his youngstock, but it does take a while to make a name!

Yes Ballinvella has sired some amazing stock! Topping is a little jumping machine.

Yeah, I've seen some Ballinvella Lad sired stock but for me they just don't have quite the same appeal as the old boys.

They do tend to have an amazing jump

- I've been told mine would made 4* on his jumping ability if he'd gone into professional hands (not with me on board he wouldn't!). Topping is gorgeous - Coral Cove is a Ballinvella horse too I believe, and there's another been chosen for the Junior eventing team. I'd have another one by him any day!

I have seen some Ballinvella lad stock, and they have absolutely textbook jump and 3 good paces....but absolutely NO charisma, panache or personality at all ! Have you found that?!

Whereas the real Ballinvellas seem to have a great sense of their own importance just love their job and work with a very cheeky attitude!

Hard to generalise really...but that is what I have observed!

LOL! That is EXACTLY what I have found!

Mine is the best horse I've ever owned by far. He's 19 now, fit, sound and still going strong but he's going to be very hard to replace when eventually the time comes.

This probably doesnt really help you but my youngster is out of a ballinvela mare - so roughly related and she has a flash jump too so that most carry down the genes or something. She is also the most un chestnut mareish chestnut mare i have ever met so she has a good temperament to go with it (she has that sparkle comeing through too now) so i think u can get the ballinvela sparkle from his off spring if u find the right one

If she's the chestnut in your signature she looks cracking!

I'm only just starting to realise what a prolific stallion Ballinvella was. The search is definately on for a son that can prove he's following in his daddy's hoofprints.

yes ballinvela is certainly a name that turns heads when u say u have a horse related to him. (her sire was from the cruising line - now he's good too - although i have heard that they can be a big hot tempered-although i havent seen it at all in her yet....................)
