My boy has just finished a course of antibiotics for sinusitis and though it's early days I have the nasty feeling that it hasn't completely gone. Looking on the net, there seems to be a minimally invasive procedure that has been developed in the US to allow flushing sinuses without having to go through the skull. Just wondering if it's done in the UK and if anyone has come across it? http://www.phenix-veterinaire.com/download/file868_article38.pdf

It can be used to INCREASE drainage in horses (counteracting narrowing of the naso maxillary opening that occurs in chronic sinusitis) but generally still requires trephination or sinusotomy due to the anatomical differences between horses and humans (where it is used with much success). Though it is not clear from that paper whether sinusotomy was performed in the live horse. Used with trephination, it would reduce the necessity for sinus flap surgery.
