They're going to put 40 of them in Hampton Court? Where? Home Park is a deer park with knee high grass most of the year, till the flower show and eleventy billion cars/lorries etc arrive.

They are chubby enough...

That first one is showing classic signs of foot pain. One stuck forward, then swapping over.

Some working ones will be retained but on different ground at Balmoral. The breeding herd will come down, there is more land than you might think or be aware of.
Hope there's a lot more land.
Seems they're moving the Highland cattle and Cheviot sheep breeding programs too.

re. the grass sickness. They lost 5 , including two stallions and a colt.

I'm told they've had problems with grass sickness & have been advised to move them.

I did think that at the time it happened - seems sensible, if that's part of the reasoning for it.

But I agree that our late Queen's horse breeding programs will probably fade away pretty quickly now she's gone, which is really sad.

(P.S. Completely agree with everyone else, those ponies are massive - my vet would be having some blunt words if I owned one of those!)

There are huge swathes of Crown Estate, I regularly drive past one 400+ acre 'patch' 😉that has been fallow the last 4 or 5 years.
Remember the land isnt all attached to the Royal parks or residences down here. Much retained still doesn't have public access in any way over it, even Swinley has only about a 3rd in use by public.
