Walking our two Spinones in our local park the other day, took them along a bridleway as it is sort of enclosed and far too many deer about at the moment, young pup goes into small bit of woodland at the side of track only about twenty feet wide, out pops bambi followed by Skye, OH **** I think, older dog Bea then appears in hot pursuit, they are all heading for the only gap in the fence which will take them onto a road, quiet lane, but a road all the same, with me also in hot pursuit yelling at them to leave it!, might as well talk to the trees. All of a sudden bambi is heading straight at me, God know how it turned round and past them, dives back into the wood about three feet ahead of me and I grab both dogs. Skye thought the chase was fun, I think Bea had darker intensions, she has had rabbits and the odd bird before. Their recall is generally fairly good, even when on the scent of something, and I do give treats still when they come back, Skye is only 11 months, so any suggestions to improve recall in this sort of situation?
