these!Ive had them for years now, but can never work out if im putting them on right.tend to use them after a long day or when hes stabled somewhere away from home, like to take the time to bandage rather than use leg wraps just to fuss him more

but how do you put them on?
sometimes i wrap them round and round, then bandage, or just fold them in half, then bandage..whose got them or similar..HELP!

We only use those when something has actually injured itself purely because they're so damn thick (great for supporting and protecting but can make their legs very very warm).

Anyway, we roll them up first and then unravel around the leg (this gives much better tension than simply wrapping it round from an open square). Also when you apply them, the roll of padding should be to the outside of the part you are wrapping around the leg (as with bandaging). This again, creates much more even tension around the leg.

So, roll them up, place the loose end at the horses leg, make sure the roll of bandaging is then to the OUTSIDE and proceed to unravel around the leg.

Bandage over the top

Does that make sense? :p

Thanks guys! Yes Tierra they are abit OTT, when you see them all bandaged up with them it almost looks like they need crutches too..although they are o so comfy. Shall get re-practicing for this year!

Well yes i agree, if a horse actually needs some protection, they are wonderful!

Anyway, i couldnt explain what i meant by the way in which unroll our bandage padding so i decided to draw it!

(It's mean to show the "roll" being on the outside rather than the inside

Bandage over the top in the same way with the roll to the outside.. you'll find you get much better and more even tension than the other way round. (Ive done a lot of bandaging for a few GP dressage riders over the years and I got screamed at soooo much in the early days!

p.s. i think the horse who's legs featured in my work of art needs more than bandaging to help him

maybe some remedial shoeing? assume you only bandaged him to try and get the puffiness of his legs down...
O god..haha!
Many thanks though, as they say experience is better than (my) logic!

its REALLY important that you start at the inside like tierra said and then go in the direction in that you comer round the front then tendon you will then see that you are not putting presure on the tendon, this is sooooooooooo important as legs can get quite hot so to prevent tendon over heating and possible injury it must be done like this. so start inside of leg wrap round from then tendon and again and should end up the outside so poiting towards horse's rear and bandage liek this too!
