I was wondering if anyone knows if a bandage with gel packs attched are available on the maket. I usaually use peas wrapped in sheet with polo bandages and also using a bonner bandage on ru but i was thinking that a polo bandage with gel pad attached would be good, are they available?

I just replied on a thread in stable yard about using a gel ice pack from Marks & Spencer in place of cold hosing my mare after an injury. I guess it's the same as you currently do with the peas though, so not much time/effort saved although you could possible stitch the pack onto the bandage?

You can buy an equivalent horsey version with velcro fastening;

But I'm skint so stuck with the 99p pack from Markies and a bandage!

I had neo ice thought it was absolute pants. I might as well have soaked my bandage in cold water.

Boots do gel pads for about £5 they are brilliant they come with a special cover so can go straight on the skin without cold burns. Leave them in the freezer then bandage them straight on. I used them for my knees and shoulders can totally recommend them. They last for about 20-30 mins.

Another fab product is Carr Day and Martin they do a cooling gel and it always makes my hand go numb after using it. It is not FEI legal but am sure that will not effect you.

Is there any reason you could not use a cold spray on a horse? I used this very successfully on my shoulders and playing at a very good level rugby. Do not see why it could not be used on horses but no open wounds as it stings like buggery.
