I'm buying a lorry soon so that we can start taking D out and about this summer and have been thinking about boots and bandages. I have travelled her in boots before but she really hates having anything on her back legs and flaps, stamps and generally creates. I'm thinking that she might be better with bandages because she couldn't shake them off however hard she flapped but I'm not sure how to introduce bandages without getting flapped at. Do I just bribe her with food and do it little and often?

Im not one to use food for introducing new things... But definately do it little and often... Just start with getting her used to having a pad put on and held on if need be!

I dont use boots or bandages when travelling. Sus gets in a flap with things on his legs and he is the type of horse that would manage to get them off and trip himself up in the lorry

I would have thought bandageswould have been worse, as if she half gets them off, she coudl get in a right tangle.

Have you thought of travelling her in some well fitting brushing boots & overreach boots, hock boots if needed? Like Rara_2008 I'd be worried about bandages coming undone, plus they can be a pain to take off or put on an excited horse.

I would go with hock, knee, over reach and perhaps some brushing boots, or those sport boot wraps that go around the fetlock aswell. Beter than risking her having a flap while travelling.

my new mare apparently can't stand travel boots, i wasn't willing to try it out and risk her injuring herself to prove it, so i bought some Cashel Boomers after they were recommended on here, they're great, they don't move, they're very quick to put on, lovely and padded... link here:

i got the 14" ones for a 16.3 tb.
because they're so much shorter than travel boots, she doesn't mind them at all.
