after doing xc i usually put a cooling clay on my horses legs, are you supposed to bandage over the top of it or leave leg naked ? if you do bandage over the top what bandage would you use ? would you put a bamndage pad then bandage or how else would you do it ? thanks in advance !

I don't use it myself but my YO does eventing and uses it. She puts on the clay, then wraps the leg in cling film and then puts fleecey bandages on top. She takes it all off the next day and hoses off the clay.

bandageing clay does the opposite of what you want, it heats the area!
I no longer use clay because I won't bandage it, I want something that works quickly, I need to protect the legs for the journey home and it is vile to get off!! :o
I use cool boots, ice boots and Barrier Healthcare White Ice Leg Cooling Gel. much better stuff.

I use the cool ice leg stuff, its sort of a gel but like clay too if that makes sense? I dont bandage over it, I pile it on then turn him out like that and brush it off the next day when its dry!

I don't bandage over the top but I did turn my horse out in the sunshine and it set rock hard, like having her legs in plaster. She was less than impressed!
