Bandaging to help spavins??

I was told the opposite if you want it to occur naturally. The vet said keep them moving and dont stable. Its a bit different if you are using intervention. With surgery you box rest for a month then restrict turnout. If you have injections you keep them in for 3 days to avoid infection then ride them hard.Im not sure if there are other options for spavin apart from tildren which I cant remember full treatment .

Well with Star, she had the onset of spavin in lower joint of right hind. Vet is wanting to go along the lines of using Tildren, just waiting for his next assessment while on bute...

A girl at my yard used Tildren on her horse who had hock issues after a kick. Apparently he had one treatment and it worked straight away, but others may need 1-2 or more treatments over the next few years...

Bit strange really...
Spavins (arthritis) are the joint/bones fusing...so bandaging isnt really going to do anything...except maybe help the circulation if stabled for periods of time.
Movement is the best option...but not really hard or on hard ground...especially when they are in the process of fusing.
Turnout is important...as the natural movement keeps everything active as it should be used and not seizing up...
My mare had injections (course of 2, tho you can have 3 within a year) in her hocks upon diagnosis and it worked brilliantly for her for 3 years...plus remedial shoeing (when being ridden) and joint supplement for always.
If managed properly you can carry on pretty much as normal..but just be mindful of any changes in your horses actions.
There is an operation now as well but I do not know about this.

Had the op 6 weeks ago check up on 18th(date keeps changing) to see if its successful.Fingers crossed but he is looking good from the extent of the handstands and bucks lol
