Banded Sarcoid - 1 week in and bleeding - Anyone been through it?

I had a look at it today and it didnt really look any different (its a week today that the vet put the band on), i turned him out and he must have caught it and when i brought him in it was bleeding all over. I cleaned as best i could but I just wondered if anyone who has also had theirs banded can let me know what exactly happens to them?

I assumed the band would go on and then it would start to die off as the blood supply is cut off. This is why i am confused to why Charlie's is bleeding as surely if the blood supply is being killed off then why would it bleed?

The vet did did say its usually at least 2 weeks before they drop off but i just wondered if anyone can give me anything to compare with?

Different sarcoids are treated in different ways sharon1959.

It will be banded because it can be, only certain types can. My horse had one banded last year and it formed a scabby wound before it dropped off, which from memory took at least a month, it is now however totally gone which is the main thing, but I think it got worse before it got better :)
 
thanks Lannerch, i think it just looks so horrible and i just need a bit of re-assurance!
As you pointed out to sharon1959 every sarcoid is treated differently. My vet said because of the location of this one any cream would rub on to his other leg causing more trouble than it was worth so she checked and said we should band it.
 
Gully's took ages to drop off - way more than a month if I remember....also formed a nasty wound before it healed - vet did it in June, which probably wasn't the best decision, as the flies bothered it quite a bit.
