If you buy from a business and pay by bank transfer, do you automatically get buyer protection?

I know you can do it via PayPal but the seller then incurs the fees

They only accept PayPal or bank transfer, they want friends and family for PayPal though so that they don't incur the fees.
Im sure this lady is legit because she sells a lot on Facebook but i dont trust anyone these days

I never trust anyone who asks me to use friends and family
The PayPal charge isn’t that big to be bothered about

I would ask her if you can pay paypal but send £31.00 (or whatever it is) to cover the fees - she should have no problem with that.

Think of the £1 as the cost of your insurance

This is what I offer if they’re not keen on PayPal because of the fees. I tried to buy some hoof boots last week and the seller demanded bank transfer or family and friends PayPal. I offered to cover the fees on PayPal ‘goods’ but she refused. I think she was a scammer.

Can see you've agreed to pay fees. I've had sellers offer 2 prices depending on which you choose.

However given the choice, I would use f and f above bank transfer. If it's a scam, neither will help and the bank or PayPal account will disappear. If the seller is genuine, then if there's a problem, going back to PayPal will cause them all sorts of issues if they've used f and f when they shouldn't and be an incentive to resolve.

That's not a legit person
A legit person will include the PayPal fee in their item for accepting payment as goods and services
I'd seriously walk away.
And join the Facebook group 'Equestrian scammer disputes ' and search for their name. There are some prolific scammers out there, a lot of them use different names to try and scam people who might only know of their previous names
