In case you haven't seen the recent threads in CR, we'd like you to sign the petition to ban lethal unfixed portable XC fences. You can read more here, but the video is very upsetting:

Here's a facebook link: (You should be able to read even if you don't have facebook, I think)

We really need as many people to be aware of this as possible, hopefully we can save lives :) I for one, hadn't even considered the dangers of unfixed portable fences until I read the thread. I will be checking and double checking from now on.

And finally, here is the petition:

Hope we can make a difference, and make our sport safer.

Just to add, this sequence shows what can happen. Very lucky to both be uninjured after this fence tipped up:

Fortunately none of these riders or horses were hurt.

Unfixed portables have been involved in 3 rider fatalities already. One was at a fence of only 2'9", but it rose 10" when the horse hit it. So, if they're not properly anchored, small fences are dangerous too.

Please have a look at the threads and consider signing the petition, contacting your local XC schooling venues, and, if you have portable xc fences at your yard, asking whether they are fixed down. This is a huge hidden danger.

We have a Fb page too, "Ban unfixed portable xc fences", please have a look and either Like it or Join it.
Thankyou.
