Hi I had a go at riding my 15.1 mare bare back today it was such good fun i walked and troted it did hurt my !!!!!!!!!!! U know what i mean lol and I would love to try jumping don't really know how to theo I can jump just over 1m on her with a saddle any help would be great how to trot with out hurting my !!!!!!!!! and how to jump thanks

When you are trotting you could try leaning back a bit, this makes it (slightly) more comfortable, also keep your trot fairly slow and train your horse to go into canter from a few strides of trot, or even walk to canter - much more comfortable. I always found with jumping that it was the landing that could be the balance losing bit, so start small and perhaps add a neck strap for some extra stability for yourself.

always ride bare back with a neck strap! It stops you balancing on the horses mouth. Just grap a stirrup leather and put it on the end hole and tuck the tip in the buckell.

you need to do lots of transitions to learn to lengthen your legs and stop gripping with your inner thigh and you need to imagine you have no bones in your upper body to make sure you are soft enough to absorb the movement of trot.

Get someone to lunge you bareback, take your reins away and do balance exercises for a bit. Then just ride as normal till you get balanced! :)
