Horse has been in for 12 days on the trot due to flooded fields (first time in yrs turnout was restricted)
Has hock spavins so nightmare for us but actually he coped great. Rode as much as I could and didn't seem stiff at all.
They went back out as of wed into new unflooded paddocks and these have been rested for a few months so green and nice. They are on restricted turn out at present so 4 hrs a day but my horse is looking really footy, not lame, not hot no pulse just uncomfortable on the hard paths and yard. Haven't ridden yet so not sure how he will be but is this due to the grass and will it settle?

Could be to do with feet, the weather is great for sugary grass.. but do consider the effect of sugars on joints and fluid retention. Thrush takes a while to get a hold, could it have always been there and had a growth spurt?

Why don't you treat the situation for what it may be...

A bit of arthritis flare... take it easy.

Thrush... get rid.

Sugar induced footiness... boot for a bit.

Keep an eye on it ;)

So, your ground has been wet and soft.
He's been in for days?
On a nice soft bed?
Now he's footy on hard ground? hmmmmm. What's he like when he gets to softer ground?

I would add the fact that he may just be sore to the list of other possible causes. In fact, that would be at the top of my list if he had no other existing issues.

He looks stiff tbh. Which is odd as he should have been stiffer in. Obv after being in for so long when he went out he went like a fire work which on soft ground isn't great for his joints. There are some almighty skid marks in his field. Which make me cringe given his joint issues.
His feet were also trimmed during his in time so maybe with the lack of movement he needs some out time

I'd be thinking laminitis - off the grass, full box rest, deep bed, soaked hay and bute.

My boy went down with laminitis yesterday and he's the second on the yard. Both him and the first have been on box rest and we can only think that they've got it through standing in eating when they're both used to working. I'm kicking myself for not soaking his hay but it's too late for that now and all I can do is try and get him through it.

He is better today but his feet are a bit smelly and very soft so suspect it's thrush or something. Will treat it and keep him on for a bit to dry up. To rain loads here again over night/ early morning

2 of mine are footy, been getting worse over 2 months. 1 has cushings laminitis, first episode being lame. Other has been examined by vet twice, no laminitis just footy. Fed as if laminitic, box rested twice with no improvement so I'm putting front shoes on....shes been barefoot over 7 years..
Other horse is getting shoes on, his laminitis has resolved but he's sore on stones, fine on soft.been on box rest since before Xmas....hes been barefoot for 5 years
