So my girl has been barefoot for a couple of years now and has been doing well but I did a really silly thing recently and got a farrier to trim her. It was an in the moment thing and thought rather than call the trimmer I'd just ask him. After the trim I had to go back to square one just walking her out for a bit and we are now back to the stage where she's fine walking the roads but is sensitive to stones and gravel. The grass isnt helping either but restricted grazing isnt an option with her. Shes too highly strung to be stabled when other horses arent. The funny thing with her though is if there is a place where she can either walk on the grass or the smooth road, she will purposely choose to walk on the stones where it clearly is sensitive for her. Anyway know her reasoning behind this? I picture her saying in her head, no pain no gain lol! Bless her!

For some horses a flat surface(never mind the stones!) is more comfortable than one with a peculiar camber. My barefoot horse has issues with his right stifle,so will choose to walk on stones rather than a side slope.
