My horse is currently transitioning to barefoot (shoes been off since Oct), i addressed her diet in July and she is fed High Fibre Cubes, Alfa A Oil, Linseed, Brewers Yeast, Mag Ox, Joint supplement mixed together with some oil & Sugarbeet. She has ab-lib hay. She had a Arthroscopy in Oct and i have been slowly bringing her back into work with gentle hacking since Christmas.

She is doing well with no shoes, still abit footy on stoney ground (thrush issues which i am trying to get on top of), but i have some Cavallos for her which are great.

Now i am riding her more i feel that she would benefit from abit more condition, looking at her diet is there anything anyone would change? I would normally just let Dr Green get on with things over spring/summer turnout, but am worried about her having too much grass & the effects it may have on her feet.

Hmmm, any suggestions?

Have a look at Rowen and Barbarys' website and have a look at Solutions Mash. Very low starch and sugar, but it's good for condition. Unfortunately, one of mine won't touch it and the one that will eat it doesn't need the condition!

I use the above. I am never sure what is in other high fibre bagged feeds/cubes and too much alfalfa was not brilliant for my barefoot horse.
So I use Pure Easy and Pure balance.(I use the balancer because I am finding the horses need less of the Pure Easy than recommended.Fed at the recommended rate, there should be no need for other supplements)
